Tran Gia Minh, a 10E1 student at Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School (Binh Duong province), has been an excellent student for many years and achieved an IELTS 8.5 certificate on his first attempt.
Talking about the IELTS test on August 5, Gia Minh said he was very stressed while taking the test. However, the male student still achieved a high result of IELTS 8.5.
Minh said he started learning English in kindergarten, when he rarely asked his teachers questions and just ignored things he didn't understand. However, after a long time studying this subject, Minh realized that he needed to be more open and interact more with foreign teachers to improve. After doing this, Minh's level improved a lot.

For many years, Minh has been an excellent student, and in grade 9 he won second prize in the Binh Duong province's excellent student competition in English. This male student believes that studying well does not necessarily mean studying a lot: "I choose to memorize the main ideas and main points of the lesson. More importantly, I have to concentrate and ask many questions while listening to the lecture."
Minh usually concentrates highly when studying at school, and when he gets home, he spends most of his time eating, resting and entertaining. If he does homework, he only completes the easy ones and saves the parts that require a lot of brainpower for the next morning. Minh said he usually goes to bed very early and wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to think about how to solve difficult exercises.

“Besides studying, I also really like playing games. This does not have a negative impact on players if they understand and control their plans and goals for the day. I also often play the guitar and listen to music to balance the pressure of studying. Music brings great spiritual value to people. And listening in English helps to practice foreign language skills and understand more about the culture and way of thinking of young people in many countries,” Minh shared.
Minh added that he currently really likes songs by Car Seat Headrest (an indie rock band from the US) because they have a liberal and creative writing style. This helps the male student find ideas to apply to the writing section of English and Literature.
Ms. Tran Thi Kim Duyen, a teacher at Nguyen Khuyen Secondary and High School (Binh Duong province), who is Minh's supervisor in grade 9, said: "Minh is an active, dynamic student who is active in class activities. He is very intelligent, talented, passionate and has very good English speaking skills. He always asks his teachers questions when he has any questions or does not fully understand. Gia Minh is also enthusiastic in helping his friends in their studies."
