Hoa Binh Five elementary school students in Mai Chau were taken to the emergency room with stomach pain and vomiting after drinking soft drinks bought at the school gate.

On the evening of February 23, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh, confirmed the information. He said that these children all studied at Bao La Primary and Secondary School, Mai Chau District.

According to the district education department report, in the early afternoon of February 22, five students bought soft drinks to drink at a shop at the school gate. At around 4:50 p.m., all five had stomach aches, vomited, and had loose stools, so their families took them to the commune health station for examination.

Seeing signs of suspected poisoning, these children were transferred to Mai Chau District Medical Center, then to the district hospital and provincial hospital for treatment.

"The children's health has gradually stabilized, they no longer vomit or have stomach aches, and are alert and able to talk normally," said Mr. Pham Trung Hieu, head of the Department of Education and Training of Mai Chau district.

He said the Commune People's Committee had directed the Health Station to coordinate with the police to confiscate the items. At the same time, the commune organized propaganda to prevent food poisoning for local people.
