In 2024, with the attention, direction and drastic and comprehensive management of the Government and the Prime Minister; the determination, efforts and endeavors of the transport sector, all aspects of work have completed the set plan, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the country. In the field of infrastructure investment, there continue to be many bright spots. In 2024, the Ministry of Transport started 10 projects and inaugurated and put into use 8 projects. Many difficulties and complicated problems were focused on and resolved, such as: Site clearance, sources of raw materials for projects, especially in the Southern region. By the end of December 2024, the disbursement volume of the Ministry of Transport was about 60,200 billion VND, reaching about 80% of the plan. The progress of important national projects and key projects in the transport sector has been basically ensured, many difficulties and long-standing problems have been resolved, some projects are likely to be completed 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule, the last 2 component projects on the North-South expressway, phase 1, have been inaugurated and put into operation, bringing the total number of kilometers of expressway nationwide to more than 2,000 km. All types of transport activities have grown impressively, with freight volume reaching 2,450 million tons, up 14.5%; passenger transport reaching 4.7 billion passengers, up 11.2%. Traffic safety and order work continues to be implemented resolutely and synchronously, promptly overcoming and handling 15 black spots, 11 potential traffic accident spots, 160 locations at risk of traffic insecurity, etc.

In 2025, to successfully implement one of the three strategic breakthroughs set forth in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Ministry of Transport will focus on mobilizing all resources to resolutely implement construction, ensuring progress and quality of projects, especially important national projects and key projects of the transport sector. The Ministry of Transport plans to start 19 transport infrastructure projects, complete 50 infrastructure projects in 2025 and complete 3,000 km of highways. The Ministry of Transport will strongly, drastically and synchronously implement solutions to promote disbursement of public investment capital.

In particular, focusing on accelerating the progress of completing component projects of the investment project to build the North-South expressway in the East phase 2021-2025; focusing on implementing the feasibility study report of the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis; Speed ​​up the progress and basically complete the Long Thanh International Airport project... Strengthen transport management, ensure traffic order and safety, and immediately implement measures to better serve people's travel needs during the New Year, Lunar New Year and the 2025 At Ty Spring Festival. Strengthen decentralization and delegation of authority to localities in investment, management, exploitation and maintenance of transport infrastructure to promote the potential and advantages of local authorities, meeting the needs of national development and innovation.
