On March 19, director Tran Anh Hung and his wife Tran Nu Yen Khe had the opportunity to return to Vietnam to attend the early screening of the film Muon Vi Nhan Gian.
This is the film that brought Tran Anh Hung many large and small academy awards around the world, including the 2023 Cannes Award for Best Director.
The World of the Dead is also the film representing France at the 2024 Oscars, on the shortlist but unfortunately did not make it to the final nomination list.
Before the film was shown, director Tran Anh Hung and his wife shared with the audience their joy when the film finally returned to Vietnam for screening after nearly a year of being released on big screens around the world.

Previously, director Tran Anh Hung also often returned to Vietnam every year to travel and teach directing classes within the framework of the Autumn Meeting program.
However, this is a rare opportunity for the audience to meet and interact directly with director Tran Anh Hung, since the last time he and his wife released a film was nearly 8 years ago with the film Vinh Cuu (2016).
Tran Anh Hung - Tran Nu Yen Khe and 35 years of humanity
In addition to her role as director and screenwriter, Tran Anh Hung's wife took on the role of art director and costume designer for the film Muon Vi Nhan Gian .

In the past, Tran Nu Yen Khe was also a familiar name to Vietnamese audiences.
She played the female lead in The Scent of Green Papaya - a Vietnamese-language film nominated for an Oscar in 1993, also directed by Tran Anh Hung.
In fact, Tran Nu Yen Khe has been associated with the director's career for nearly 35 years (since the short film Nguoi Thieu Phu Nam Xuong in 1989) with many different roles.
Since the film Norwegian Wood (2010), Yen Khe has not appeared in films as an actress but continues to contribute to her husband's work as an art director, costume designer and narrator.
Talking about Muon Vi Nhan Gian, the film tells the love story of outstanding culinary expert Dodin Bouffant (played by Benoît Magime) and his lover, female chef Eugenie (played by Juliette Binoche).
They have been together for over 20 years, cooking and developing new dishes together every day. Their love for each other is undeniable, but they never got married because their souls were not in sync and they were waiting for the right time.

Both the stunning 19th-century French setting and the realistic cinematography only serve to complement the story of love and passion between two great chefs.
Their love is not simply a relationship between a man and a woman, but also a relationship between two artists who are dedicating their lives to the art of cooking.
This relationship has many similarities with the real life relationship of director Tran Anh Hung and his wife. The words "À Yen Khe" ("To Yen Khe") at the end of the film confirm this.
Director Tran Anh Hung shared with Tuoi Tre Online that he used the film to tell a love story between not only a husband and wife, but also two souls in harmony in work and passion.
This is also the direct point of contact for him and his wife Yen Khe throughout their 35-year film career.
