President Vo Van Thuong has just signed a Decision to confer and posthumously confer the titles of People's Artist (NSND) and Meritorious Artist (NSUT) for the 10th time in 2023.
Accordingly, 119 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist, 257 individuals were awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, and posthumously awarded the title of Meritorious Artist to 5 individuals who made many contributions to the cause of building and developing national culture.
Thanh Lam and Xuan Bac were awarded the title of People's Artist.
People's Artist and Meritorious Artist are noble titles awarded by the State to those working in the performing arts. In addition to certificates of merit, artists who are awarded the title will receive corresponding bonuses according to regulations.
According to Decree 98/2023/ND-CP dated December 31, 2023 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Emulation and Commendation, effective from January 1, 2024, the bonus level for People's Artists is 12.5 times the base salary, and for Meritorious Artists is 9 times the base salary.
Specifically, artists receiving the title of People's Artist receive a bonus of 22.5 million VND (equivalent to a coefficient of 12.5). Artists receiving the title of Meritorious Artist receive a bonus of 16.2 million VND (equivalent to a coefficient of 9).
In addition, artists who are awarded the title will also receive a salary increase from their governing body.
The amount of bonus that artists awarded the title of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist receive has changed a lot compared to before. Around 2012, the title of People's Artist was awarded from 12-15 million VND, the title of Meritorious Artist received less than 10 million VND.
The 10th People's Artist and Meritorious Artist title award ceremony is expected to be held in early 2024 at the Hanoi Opera House.
