According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning (May 23), the low pressure trough with an axis at about 22-24 degrees north latitude continued to be compressed and pushed south by the strengthening continental high pressure in the North.

Due to the influence of the compressed low pressure trough combined with wind convergence above 1,500m, during the day and night of May 23, in the North and Thanh Hoa, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm/24 hours, in some places more than 60mm/24 hours.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas.

Today (May 23), the heat wave in the Northeast region ends.
