We met Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhon (born in 1992 in Tan Ha commune), he said that he was born and raised next to the ripe rice fields so he loves this countryside very much.
“When I was young, I often followed my parents to the fields and brought a bowl of white rice and a jar of salt and pepper to eat to ease my hunger. From white rice, eaten with grilled snails dipped in salt and pepper, I dreamed of growing up to go to school and become rich in this “homeland”…”, Nhon confided.
After studying for two university degrees in Ho Chi Minh City, Nhon refused a high salary, left the city to return to his hometown to become a real farmer, raising black apple snails, creating jobs for many farmers...
Taking us on a tour of his commercial black apple snail farm and his seed supply, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhon said that his family's farm currently has about 7 hectares of water surface area for raising commercial black apple snails, black apple snail seeds, and medicinal snails in Duc Linh district.
According to Mr. Nhon, commercial black apple snails can be sold after about 4 months of farming. The stocking density is 200 - 250 snails/m2; the weight reaches 20 - 25 snails/kg, the current selling price is 75,000 VND/kg. His farm supplies the market with 200 kg of commercial black apple snails every day.

Mr. Nhon said that each month his family farm supplies seeds to about 150 households in Duc Linh district and other places. On average, each household produces 20,000 - 50,000 black apple snail seeds, selling for 300 VND/snail, so the income is stable.
Mr. Nhon established Thuong Nhan Ganoderma Mushroom Company Limited, of which he is the director, and currently has over 10 high-quality products, favored by markets inside and outside the province.
Among more than 30 local workers working for Mr. Nhon's farm and company, over 50% of the workers are ethnic minorities in Duc Linh district with a very stable monthly income.

Advanced new rural commune
According to the People's Committee of Duc Linh District, the black snail sausage product of Thuong Nhan Lingzhi Mushroom Company Limited Branch was recognized by the People's Committee of the district as a 3-star OCOP in 2023. Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhon's snail farm creates jobs for people, contributing to helping the locality achieve the criteria of an advanced new rural area.
In addition to the black snail sausage product, in Tan Ha commune there is a goat farming cooperative, led by Mr. Phan Van Huy, with 10 participating households. Goats are raised according to VietGAP process with a farming area of 390 m2 and an expected output of about 10 tons/year. The cooperative has been granted VietGAP Certificate No. VietGAP-CN-18-17-60-22-03 for goat meat products by FAO Certification and Testing Joint Stock Company on December 25, 2022 and is valid until December 24, 2024.
Along with that, the Goat Farming Cooperative has signed a contract to link production and product consumption with Hoai Duc Livestock and Poultry Company Limited with an output of 10 tons/year, the contract term is until 2026.

According to the People's Committee of Duc Linh district, after 7 years of efforts to build advanced new rural areas, the appearance of Tan Ha commune has improved a lot. The infrastructure system of electricity, roads, schools, and stations have all been standardized according to advanced new rural criteria.
The team of communal civil servants is trained, fostered, tempered and matured to fulfill assigned tasks well. National defense is ensured; political security and social order and safety are maintained, and the movement of All People Protecting National Security is well implemented.
The total mobilized resources of Tan Ha commune in the period of 2017 - 2023 are over 270 billion VND, of which businesses and people contributed more than 60.6 billion VND.
The average income per capita of the commune in 2023 reached 63.38 million VND/person/year. With that result, Tan Ha commune was recognized by the Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee as a commune meeting advanced new rural standards in 2023.
On April 26, Duc Linh District People's Committee held a ceremony to announce Tan Ha commune meeting advanced new rural standards. On this occasion, Tan Ha commune also launched the construction of a model new rural commune by the end of 2024.
Striving for the district to meet advanced NTM standards
According to the People's Committee of Duc Linh district, in April 2021, the Executive Committee of the Duc Linh District Party Committee issued Resolution 04 on building a district that meets advanced NTM standards. Up to now, after 3 years of implementation, Duc Linh has become the leading locality in implementing this goal...
Duc Linh is a mountainous district located in the West of Binh Thuan province with 12 administrative units (2 towns, 10 communes). The district was recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the NTM standards in 2020.
In 3 years (2021-2023), Duc Linh has mobilized 679 billion VND, of which people contributed 50 billion VND, direct capital of the program was 23 billion VND, capital combined with project programs was more than 421 billion VND, and mobilized businesses 78.3 billion VND.
Through assessment, up to now Duc Linh continues to maintain 9/9 criteria of new rural district, 5/9 criteria of advanced new rural district.
There are 5/10 communes that meet advanced NTM standards: Tra Tan, Dong Ha, Tan Ha, Duc Hanh, Me Pu.
For the 2 towns (Vo Xu, Duc Tai), after more than 1 year of implementing the plan to build civilized urban areas, up to now, the 2 towns have self-assessed that they have met 7/9 criteria.

Duc Linh district aims to have 3 more communes (Sung Nhon, Nam Chinh and Vu Hoa) meeting advanced NTM standards and 3 communes (Tra Tan, Dong Ha, Me Pu) meeting model NTM standards by the end of this year, and 2 towns meeting civilized urban standards by 2024.
By 2025, 100% of communes will meet advanced NTM standards, and districts will meet advanced NTM standards. Therefore, the district requires units and localities to launch the emulation movement "Joining hands to build NTM" associated with the campaign "All people unite to build NTM and civilized urban areas" to mobilize resources and people to participate.
Strengthening production development associated with restructuring the agricultural sector towards value chains and sustainable development, solving rural environmental problems, and effectively implementing support policies in agriculture.
