According to information from the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the school has 58 prizes in the national excellent student competition for the 2023-2024 school year, including 3 first prizes, 13 second prizes, 22 third prizes and 20 consolation prizes.

The three first prizes at school went to Tran Trung Khang in math, Bui Quang Duy in biology and Nguyen Hong Anh in literature.
In particular, Nguyen Hong Anh, who won first prize in literature in this contest, is a 10th grade student majoring in literature at the school.
At the Gifted High School, there were also 6 other 10th grade students who won prizes in this year's national excellent student competition in the subjects of math, literature, English, information technology, and history.
According to information from the school, two students who won prizes in math, one student who won prizes in biology, and one student who won prizes in information technology were called to participate in the exam to select the team representing Vietnam to compete in the regional and international Olympics in 2024.
The national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year was held on January 5 and 6.
According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, nationwide there are 5,812 candidates from 70 units participating in the exam in 12 subjects including math, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French and Chinese.
The examination board selected 3,351 prize-winning candidates, accounting for 57.65%.

According to the plan, in March 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2024, for the subjects of math, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
