Vietnamese movies have witnessed the arrival of a series of new faces, bringing a new breeze instead of just focusing on billion-dollar faces like Lan Ngoc or Kaity.
Phuong My Chi showed her full potential in the film “House of Ancestors” by Huynh Lap. My Tien - the character played by Phuong My Chi has changed and matured in her psychological development. From a little girl who was condemned by her family and neighbors, forced to leave home to become independent in the city, to when My Tien returned, gradually awakened, and matured after seeing the ghost of her brother (Huynh Lap), it is a journey of change with many emotional turning points.
In scenes that require psychological weight, Phuong My Chi's performance was still weak, but overall the character My Tien was still evaluated positively, as the female singer transformed naturally, showing a lot of effort.
Before Phuong My Chi, Miss Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen left an impression with her role as Karen in “The Four Guardians” directed by Tran Thanh. This year’s Tet film season marks the arrival of a series of beauty queens entering the screen such as Tran Tieu Vy, Doan Thien An and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen.
While Doan Thien An and Tran Tieu Vy were praised for their well-rounded performances, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen scored points for her complex role as Karen. It was the complexity in Karen's psychological development that helped Ky Duyen demonstrate her acting ability and score points with the audience, even though this was her first role in cinema.
In the near future, Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien will also have a new role in the movie “Closing the deal”. Previously, Thuy Tien played “Linh Mieu” and was praised for her great efforts.
The influx of beauty queens and singers into cinema has helped Vietnamese films become more diverse and rich, as the "hundred billion dollar faces" previously were reserved for a small number of actors, focusing on Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, Kaity Nguyen.
A paradox is happening, while beauty queens and singers help a series of projects quickly earn hundreds of billions in revenue, the "million dollar beauty" of the Vietnamese screen, Kaity Nguyen, is continuously appearing in "flops" with loss-making revenue such as: Cong Tu Bac Lieu (end of 2024), Love by mistake with a best friend (Lunar New Year 2025).
Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc has not acted in any movies in the past 2 years. The most recent movie Lan Ngoc starred in with Kaity Nguyen was “The Girl from the Past”. The movie, which brought together 2 “billionaire beauties”, stopped at a revenue of over 50 billion VND in 2022.
In 2023, when Phuong Anh Dao rose to fame with the role of Mai in Tran Thanh's eponymous film, which grossed 550 billion VND, many audiences mentioned Lan Ngoc with regret. Lan Ngoc was once expected to be the "screen goddess" of the new generation after her impressive appearance as Nuong in "Endless Field".
Lan Ngoc participated in many high-grossing projects such as "Gai gia lam chieu", "Cua lai vo bau"... but in recent years, Lan Ngoc mainly participated in entertainment game shows, sang, and founded the music group LUNAS.

Before filming “The Ancestors’ House”, Huynh Lap wanted to choose the main role for Kaity Nguyen, but in the end, he invited Phuong My Chi to bring a new breeze to Vietnamese films.
