Miss Universe 2023 has a new owner, Nicaragua representative Sheynnis Palacios. This is the first time Nicaragua has won a crown in the Big6 beauty pageant.

Who is the beauty crowned Miss Universe 2023?

Sheynnis Alondra Palacios Cornejo was born on May 30, 2000 in Managua, Nicaragua. She boasts not only beauty but also talent and a series of achievements.

Miss World Nicaragua 2020

In 2020, Sheynnis added another crown to her head when she was crowned Miss World Nicaragua.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, she made her country proud at the Miss World 2021 pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by placing in the Top 40.

Reinado Internacional del Café 2022

Not long after, Sheynnis found herself battling COVID-19, which led to her early withdrawal from the Reinado Internacional del Café 2022 competition.

Sheynnis not only performed well but also completed her performance strongly.

Her answer to the final question of the night reflected her dedication and commitment to being a woman who not only has a voice but also has influence over people.

The question was asked: "If you could live for a year, if you could live for a year in another woman's shoes, who would you choose and why?"

Sheynis' answer was brilliant: "I would choose Mary Watson-Brad because she opened up the gap and gave opportunities to a lot of women... And what I would do, I want that gap, that income gap, to open up so that women can work in any field they choose to work in because there are no limits to women. That was in 1750. Now, in 2023, we are making history."

Beauty pageant expert Osmel Souza has said he really wants Nicaragua to win this year and sees a lot of potential in Sheynnis Palacios.

"I really hope Nicaragua wins because it is a country that has never won before, I find it hard to believe that another country will come back with such strong characteristics as this year's candidate," the expert said after being consulted by Telemundo.

Sheynnis Palacios' mention of the writer and philosopher in the Miss Universe 2023 final today demonstrated her support for women's rights.
