In order to strengthen the management of transportation fares in the area, especially during the Lunar New Year, to meet the travel needs of the people, the Department of Transport has strengthened inspection and supervision of the implementation of declaration, posting and surcharges on passenger transport fares on fixed transport routes operating in the area to promptly handle violations according to the provisions of law.

Specifically, at Quang Tri Town Bus Station and Khe Sanh Bus Station, there is 1 inter-provincial transport unit, Hai Van - Da Nang Transport Service Cooperative, declaring an increase in ticket prices for the Da Nang - Quang Tri and Da Nang - Khe Sanh routes from February 10 to February 25, 2024 with an increase of 50%; Lao Bao Bus Station has 3 inter-provincial transport units declaring an increase in ticket prices during the Giap Thin Lunar New Year service period with an increase of 50%; Ho Xa Bus Station has 2 inter-provincial transport units declaring an increase in ticket prices for the Ho Xa - Da Nang and Ho Xa - Dak Lak routes from February 10 to February 25, 2024 with an increase of 50% - 60%; Dong Ha Bus Station has 3 inter-provincial transport units declaring an increase in ticket prices for the routes Da Nang - Dong Ha, Krongpa Bus Station (Gia Lai province) - Dong Ha Bus Station and Buon Ma Thuot Bus Station (Dak Lak province) - Dong Ha Bus Station with an increase of 45% - 63%.

On the other hand, bus stations have also posted hotline numbers of the Steering Committee for Tet Transport Services, leaders of the Bus Station Management Center and leaders of transport units to receive feedback and recommendations from passengers.

Previously, the Department of Transport issued an official dispatch on the implementation of posting and declaring ticket prices and fares in passenger transport by car on fixed routes in the province, in which it requested transport businesses to proactively monitor gasoline prices to make appropriate price adjustments, and encourage transport businesses to have policies to exempt and reduce fares for the elderly, the poor, students, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to review and fully post the minimum information as prescribed on the vehicle before putting the vehicle into transport business operations.

Statistics from February 8 to February 13 (ie December 29 - January 4), the total number of bus trips departing from bus stations in the province was 245. Of which, there were 219 inter-provincial trips, mainly to provinces and cities: Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and northern provinces, reaching 137.74% compared to the same period in 2023; 26 intra-provincial trips, reaching 433.33% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of passengers traveling also increased compared to the same period in 2023 with over 6,400 passengers departing on inter-provincial routes and 572 passengers departing on intra-provincial routes.

Since the 4th day of Tet, most passenger transport vehicles have returned to normal operation, including intra-provincial bus routes. However, the number of passengers traveling is still low due to the remaining Tet holiday period, especially in the southern provinces, which return to work after Tet later than in previous years.
