Heavy rain in many places in Central region, beware of floods

Weather highlights for the night of October 29 and October 30, 2023

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of October 29 to October 31, from Nghe An to Quang Ngai, there will be moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 60-180mm, and in some places over 250mm.

In the evening and night of October 29, Thanh Hoa, Northern Nghe An, Central Highlands, and the South will have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 80mm.

Heavy rain in the North and Central Central regions is likely to last until around November 2.

The meteorological agency warns that from tomorrow, October 30 to November 3, there is a risk of a flood on rivers from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, with flood levels rising from 3-7m in the upper reaches of the rivers and from 1-3m in the lower reaches. During this flood, the peak water level on the rivers will be at alert level 1-2, with some rivers above alert level 2, while rivers in Thua Thien Hue will fluctuate at alert level 2 and above alert level 2.

According to the meteorological agency, currently, the weak cold air mass is continuing to move eastward to the south. Due to the influence of the weak cold air mass, from October 29, the weather in the North will be cool, and the northern mountainous areas will be cold at night and in the morning.

At sea, on the night of October 29 and the day of October 30, the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts of level 7-8, rough seas, waves 1.5-2.5m high. The North East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago) will have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, rough seas, waves 2-3.5m high.

In addition, on the night of October 29 and October 30, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 7-8 may occur.

On the night of October 30 and 31, the North East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago) will have strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 8, rough seas, and waves 2-4m high.

Thanh Hoa - Thua Thien Hue moderate rain, heavy rain, some places very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms. North to northwest wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind may occur. Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius.

From Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the north will have moderate to heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms. The south will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. Light wind. During thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 23-26 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is 29-32 degrees Celsius, in some places in the north it will be below 29 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands: scattered showers and thunderstorms at night, sunny during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, locally moderate rain, heavy rain. Light wind. Southern region: scattered showers and thunderstorms at night, sunny during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, locally moderate rain, heavy rain. Light wind. During thunderstorms, warning of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-26 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 33-33 degrees Celsius, some places above 33 degrees Celsius.
