According to Neowin , those using Windows 10 21H2 should update to the newer release as soon as possible to keep their systems protected and up to date. This version was first released in the second half of 2021 with a small number of feature changes as the company shifted its focus to the original version of Windows 11 - which was released at the same time.

Microsoft recommends Windows 10 users upgrade to Windows 11

With the end of support, Windows 10 21H2 SKUs including Home, Professional, Professional Education, and Professional for Workstations have received a total of 18 months of active support from Microsoft. Business, Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise for IoT devices editions will continue to receive updates for another year as Microsoft plans to end support on June 11, 2024.

Those still running Windows 10 21H2 should prepare for a mandatory upgrade. Microsoft will move users' computers to Windows 10 version 22H2 through a small support package. The company still recommends that users move to Windows 11, but the operating system has high hardware requirements. The original version of Windows 11, 21H2, has a longer support life than Windows 10 21H2, and Microsoft will stop supporting it on October 10, 2023.

Windows 10 21H2 isn't the only product Microsoft is ending support for this year. The company recently stopped supporting Windows 10 20H2 and the second-generation Surface Book. The company also confirmed that Windows 10 22H2 is the final version of Windows 10, with support expected to end in October 2025.
