MediaTek has just announced in a meeting with Vietnamese media that it has maintained its position as the world's No. 1 mobile chip supplier for nearly 4 consecutive years since the third quarter of 2020, emphasizing its sustainable leadership in the market... and the company is also focusing on AI to capture future technologies.
The company also said that Southeast Asia (SEA) was one of three markets that accounted for more than 50% of the total addressable market (TAM) for smartphones last year. These figures further affirm MediaTek’s position in meeting the needs of modern technology users, especially in regions like Southeast Asia, where consumers are highly tech-savvy.
MediaTek views AI and Generative AI as essential and transformative opportunities that will shape the future of technology. The company recognizes the immense potential of AI to drive innovation and efficiency across a wide range of applications. As AI technology continues to evolve, MediaTek aims to be at the forefront, leveraging its expertise to develop solutions that meet the evolving needs of consumers and industries around the world.
MediaTek has affirmed its strong presence with nearly 49% market share in the mobile processor sector in the Vietnamese market, actively cooperating with network operators such as FPT, Viettel and VNPT... to provide wider and faster connection solutions for Vietnamese users.
Also at the event, MediaTek revealed that the company is looking towards even closer partnerships with domestic companies to design custom chips specifically for the Vietnamese market.
“MediaTek is confident in its leadership in driving generative AI applications across all areas, from smartphones, Chromebooks, smart TVs, to cars and other complex smart solutions – areas that will be heavily impacted by AI technology in the future,” said Finbarr Moynihan, Vice President of Marketing at MediaTek, adding: “In addition, MediaTek is currently focusing on cloud data centers. Cloud and data center infrastructure for AI will become important, and we see significant opportunities for MediaTek there.”
MediaTek’s focus area is generative AI (Gen-AI), which is expected to drive innovation across multiple markets. MediaTek announced that it is expanding its GenAI ecosystem with the support of Baidu and LLama, among other partners, to power on-device GenAI with real-time capabilities such as object removal and image generation.
