A Chinese-made electric helicopter has completed its maiden flight at Huqiao Airport in the eastern province of Zhejiang.
According to the Science and Technology Daily (China), the AG60E helicopter, manufactured by China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Ltd, is an improved electric version of the AG60 - a sport aircraft with 1 engine, 2 seats next to each other, made entirely of metal.
According to the manufacturer, the AG60E aircraft is 6.9m long, has a wingspan of 8.6m and a maximum flight speed of 185km/h. The aircraft reaches an average maximum speed of 3km/h at an altitude of 600m, and is designed as a higher version of its predecessor, the gasoline-powered AG218. The manufacturer emphasizes that the innovation project aims to electrify current fixed-wing aircraft, contributing to the development of strategic emerging industries such as focusing on civil and unmanned aircraft, including manufacturing, low-altitude flight operations and integrated services.
