20 farming households in Lang Nu (Phuc Khanh commune) and 40 other households in Bao Yen and Bao Thang districts (Lao Cai) were supported to rebuild their lives after storm Yagi. Each household was supported with 20 million VND, including 10 million VND in cash to buy breeding animals and 10 million VND for animal feed.

This program is organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper and GREENFEED Vietnam Company in collaboration with the Farmers' Association and Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union, taking place on December 26 and 27.

The program also awarded “Preventing Dropouts” scholarships to 120 students, each worth 3 million VND, and supported two households to build new houses, each with 100 million VND.

Total support funding in Lao Cai is up to more than 1.82 billion VND.

Mr. Hoang Van Chan in Lang Nu village said that after the historic flash flood, his family received many support gifts from people everywhere.

Life has returned to peace, but restoring production is still difficult. Most of the villagers' fields are gone.

Receiving support money for breeding animals and animal feed, he hopes that in the next few months his family will have additional income.

During the recent historic storm and flood, the entire Yen Son commune (Bao Yen) suffered about 15 billion VND in damage. Up to 58 houses were damaged by landslides.

Up to now, there are still three households without new housing, one household has to stay at the village cultural house.

The program supported two farming households, each with 100 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of Yen Son Commune People’s Committee, said that seven people in the commune were killed by the flood. Many families saved their whole lives to build houses but could no longer live there because of the risk of landslides.

“These households are in such difficult circumstances that the government has a support policy to help them build new houses, but they do not have enough money to do so. Therefore, the gift that the program sends to these households is very meaningful,” said Mr. Thang.
