During the recent historic storm and flood, the entire Yen Son commune (Bao Yen) suffered about 15 billion VND in damage. Up to 58 houses were damaged by landslides.
Up to now, there are still three households without new housing, one household has to stay at the village cultural house.
The program supported two farming households, each with 100 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of Yen Son Commune People’s Committee, said that seven people in the commune were killed by the flood. Many families saved their whole lives to build houses but could no longer live there because of the risk of landslides.
“These households are in such difficult circumstances that the government has a support policy to help them build new houses, but they do not have enough money to do so. Therefore, the gift that the program sends to these households is very meaningful,” said Mr. Thang.
