After reaching a personal agreement with Mason Mount, Man Utd are now negotiating with Chelsea regarding the transfer fee for the 24-year-old English midfielder.
According to The Guardian , Manchester United are confident that Mount will be the club's first signing of the 2023 summer transfer window. They are said to have reached a personal agreement with the talented attacking midfielder, including a weekly salary clause of $310,000. The remaining task is to negotiate with Chelsea regarding a transfer fee ranging from $62.5 million to $75 million.
Sunsport reports that Man Utd could include Harry Maguire in negotiations to persuade Chelsea to release Mount. If successful with this option, the FA Cup runners-up this season hope to pay a maximum of $60 million in cash to sign Mount.

Mount currently has a contract with Chelsea until June 2024 and is valued at $70 million (€65 million) by the transfer website Transfermarkt .
According to the British newspaper Sunsport , Chelsea prioritize keeping Mount but have been rejected by at least three contract extension offers. In August and September 2022, the Stamford Bridge club offered Mount a five-year contract with an option to extend for one year and a significant increase to his current salary of around $100,000. However, the 24-year-old midfielder rejected both offers.
In January 2023, Chelsea resumed negotiations and offered a one-year extension until 2025. However, the English star continued to refuse and demanded a weekly salary of $310,000.
If Mount joins Man Utd with his desired weekly salary, he would be the fourth-highest paid player, behind only Casemiro, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho – the trio currently earning $435,000 a week. David De Gea is currently the highest earner with nearly $500,000 per week. However, the Spanish goalkeeper would have to halve his income if he renews his contract with Man Utd. Man Utd's star player Bruno Fernandes pockets less than $300,000 a week, while Marcus Rashford and Antony earn $250,000 a week.
Manager Erik ten Hag is still not satisfied with the mobility of the midfield. The Dutch coach believes that Mount, with his pressing ability, versatility – capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, box-to-box midfielder, or left winger – and intelligent play, would be the ideal choice for the number 8 role in the Man Utd lineup.
Besides Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern are other "big clubs" eyeing Mount. However, Chelsea will only accept a $90 million fee this summer, considering it "reasonable" for a player with such achievements, youth, and potential as the midfielder born in 1999.
