The 'SecuriDropper' malware is capable of bypassing the 'Restricted Settings' feature in the Android operating system to take control of the phone.

'SecuriDropper' was recently discovered by Dutch cybersecurity research firm ThreadFabric.

Expert Vu Ngoc Son said that normally the 'Restricted Settings' feature from Android 13 will warn and prevent applications from outside Google Play from accessing accessibility and 'Notification Listener'.

Accessibility is the right that has been used by a series of malware impersonating apps of the General Department of Taxation, the Government... to control phones and steal money from users in Vietnam in recent times.

However, 'SecuriDropper' can bypass 'Restricted Settings', even with Android 13 and even Android 14, which was just released in October. This makes the possibility of users being attacked very high.

Android users are advised to avoid downloading APK files - installation files of Android applications, from unofficial sources.

Many videos even feature news channel logos, making viewers mistakenly believe the news is verified or exclusive.

The Deputy Director of NCSC recommends that people always verify and double-check all information online. It is necessary to form the habit of being cautious, vigilant and thinking “fact checking” in cyberspace.

People can look for unusual signs to identify deepfake videos such as: Images in the video move jerkily, like a glitch video; lighting changes continuously from one frame to the next; skin tone changes continuously; videos have strange flickers; mouth movements are not synchronized with speech; digital objects appear in the image; low quality audio and video; characters speak continuously, without blinking...
