According to CNN Indonesia , in the “Land of Thousand Islands”, Sumardji is a senior police officer of Indonesia with the rank of Commissioner. He graduated from the National Police Officers’ College (Secapa) in 2001 and was assigned to maintain security and order in the traffic sector that year. In 2020, Sumardji was appointed as the Chief of the Sidoarjo Police Department for the East Java Regional Police, Indonesia. A year later, he was assigned the position of Director of the Bengkulu Regional Traffic Police. In early 2023, the 1972-born man held the position of Auditor for the Intermediate Police III Itwasum Polri.

Sumardji started his football career in 2016. At that time, he was the coach of Bhayangkara FC, a team owned by the National Police. In 2019, he started as the head of the U.22 Indonesia team and started with the U.22 Southeast Asian Championship. He was then unable to walk on his own and had to be helped back to his seat. Sumardji suffered a wound on his lip, causing bleeding.

After the fight, Mr. Sumardji shared: “In fact, I jumped in to stop everyone but was beaten. The injury was not that serious, this is just part of the game. Instead of waiting for Thailand to apologize, I apologized to Thailand. I myself have learned many lessons from this incident.”
