At M15 Thailand, Ly Hoang Nam is the 5th seed. In round 1, he defeated Auytayakul of Thailand.
Ly Hoang Nam then defeated Yamasaki (Japan), Decamps (Brazil) and second seed Orel Kimhi (Israel) to advance to the final.
His opponent in the final was Maarten Jong, the 8th seed. This partly shows that Ly Hoang Nam is rated higher. However, the Vietnamese player did not have a good start.
In the first set, the two players fought fiercely. Both players broke each other once. Unable to determine a winner, the first set needed a tie-break. Maarten Jong played with excitement to win the first set with a score of 7-6.
However, Ly Hoang Nam did not let his spirit collapse. He quickly regained his confidence in the second game to continue to bring a tense chase.
Once again, the match needed a tie-break. Unlike before, this time Ly Hoang Nam was the winner (7-6) to bring the match back to a tie.
In the decisive third set, the Vietnamese player showed his best form. Maarten Jong still played with determination and fought for each set.
At the 7th table, Ly Hoang Nam broke his opponent. But Maarten Jong quickly regained the break at the next table.
However, this time, Ly Hoang Nam played with determination to avoid having to continue using the tie-break series. At table 9, he broke Maarten Jong for the second time in game 3. Thanks to that, the Vietnamese player raced to the finish line with a 6-4 victory in game 3.
This is Ly Hoang Nam's first championship since October 2022.
At the same time, he will also receive 10 ATP points.
