Former President Trump rode a garbage truck decorated with campaign slogans as part of his campaign motorcade in Wisconsin on October 30, part of an effort to draw attention to President Joe Biden's comments calling Trump supporters "trash." "How about my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden," the former president said as he sat in the passenger seat of a garbage truck decorated with his campaign slogans and flags. Trump's campaign staff widely shared photos of the truck and the former president, trying to capitalize on Trump supporters' anger over Biden's recent controversial comments. Biden faced backlash on October 29 when he appeared to compare Trump supporters to trash while criticizing a comedian's racist remarks at a Trump rally days earlier. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris tried to distance herself from the controversial comment. However, she said: "The president wants to be clear, but let me be clear, I do not agree with any criticism of people based on who they voted for." Meanwhile, the White House explained that President Biden was misunderstood, he actually meant to criticize the racist remarks at Mr Trump's rally in Madison Square Garden last weekend as "trash", not Republican supporters. The White House also released the full transcript of the comments. In the transcript, Mr Biden said: "The only trash I see floating around is his supporters. Demeaning Latinos is unconscionable and un-American. It is completely contrary to everything we have done, everything we have been through." Many Republicans have compared the comments to then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's 2016 remark that some of the former president's supporters were "deplorables." Trump himself has faced criticism for comments such as describing his opponents as "the enemy within" and "sick people." During recent rallies, he has also called the United States a "trash can" for the world, citing the surge in immigration over the years. Attacking opponents is a common tactic of Trump in any election campaign.
