In recent times, the Vietnamese business community has grown strongly in both quantity and quality. This is a special resource of the country and plays an important role in the socio-economic development process in Vietnam. In Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW issued on October 10, 2023, the Politburo affirmed: “The business community has an important position and role, and is one of the core forces contributing to promoting the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration; building and developing an independent, self-reliant economy, ensuring national defense and security”.

Uncle Ho's expectations
Immediately after the founding of the country, on October 13, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to the Vietnamese industrial and commercial community. He advised: “The industrial and commercial community must work to build a stable and prosperous economy and finance. The people's government and I will wholeheartedly help the industrial and commercial community in this construction work.”
Uncle Ho's letter of less than 200 words fully conveyed his belief and expectation in the role and mission of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, demonstrating his strategic vision of "A rich people - a strong country". This also became the first document of our Party and State, defining
The role and mission of the business community and entrepreneurs in the cause of protecting and building the country.
Over the past decades, especially nearly four decades since the implementation of innovation, the Party and State have had many policies and guidelines to encourage business development and promote the role of entrepreneurs.
In particular, after more than 10 years of implementing Resolution 09/NQ-TW dated December 9, 2011 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration, the awareness of the whole society towards the contributions of entrepreneurs and enterprises has become more and more complete and profound. Our Party and State identify entrepreneurs and enterprises as having a very important role; being the main force, an important driving force contributing to socio-economic development and job creation, stabilizing the lives of workers, and collecting state budget.
The Party and the State have issued many guidelines, policies and laws to create an investment and business environment that supports enterprises and entrepreneurs, creates favorable conditions, removes difficulties and obstacles for enterprises and entrepreneurs to operate, and contributes to improving the competitiveness of enterprises and the development of the business community. Accordingly, Vietnam's business environment and competitiveness have improved significantly in recent times.
A great joy for entrepreneurs on the occasion of the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day this year is to welcome the new Resolution of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of the Vietnamese entrepreneurial community in the new era. Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW of the Politburo emphasizes: “The general goal of the Party and State in the coming time is to “develop a large entrepreneurial community in terms of quantity, quality, reasonable structure, with vision, intelligence, ethics, entrepreneurial spirit, legitimate enrichment, dynamism, creativity, advanced management capacity, law compliance, ethics, business culture with national identity; with social responsibility, environmental awareness, making worthy contributions to the country's development goals”.
To achieve the above goals, the Resolution has proposed 7 specific solutions including: Raising awareness of the position and role of the business community in implementing the country's development goals; Perfecting policies and laws, creating a favorable, safe and equal investment and business environment for business people and enterprises to develop and contribute; Developing a strong business community on par with the goals and tasks of national development in the new period; Building business ethics and culture, promoting national spirit, arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country; Strengthening solidarity, cooperation and association between business people and workers, farmers and intellectuals under the leadership of the Party; Promoting the role of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, organizations representing the business community and enterprises; Strengthening the leadership of the Party and the management of the State in building and promoting the role of the business community.
Many people hope that Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW will open the next stage of strong development for our country's entrepreneurs, contributing to building a strong Vietnamese business team capable of taking on the pioneering task of realizing the goal and aspiration of making our country a developed, high-income country by 2045.
The engine for growth
Today, the private economic sector has nearly 900 thousand enterprises, together with state-owned enterprises, FDI enterprises, and cooperatives, forming a powerful force promoting Vietnam's economic development. The business sector contributes over 60% of GDP and 30% of the total number of employees. The private business community is growing in both quantity and quality, reaching millions of people, present in almost all industries and fields, operating not only domestically but also creating a buzz, affirming brand value, reaching out to the region and the world.

We also have entrepreneurs who have entered the group of "USD billionaires". At the same time, a force of young, dynamic entrepreneurs has emerged, daring to think, daring to do, daring to face difficulties, successfully starting new, creative business models. They are the main force, pioneering in creating many jobs and livelihoods for workers, thereby contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and socio-economic development of the country.
Thanks to the contribution of businessmen, by 2022, our country will become one of the 40 largest economies in the world, in the top 25 economies in international trade, one of the economies considered to be the most dynamic and open in the world. Vietnamese goods and products have reached consumers in many countries and territories; the lives of Vietnamese people are increasingly improved and enhanced.
Not only contributing to the process of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and socio-economic development of the country, the Vietnamese business community also always upholds the national spirit, spreads ethical values, and demonstrates social responsibility. Many businessmen have been actively participating in hunger eradication, poverty reduction, gratitude programs, community programs, supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc.
In particular, when the country is facing mounting difficulties, having to cope with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession, the Vietnamese business community remains resilient on the economic front; accompanying the country to overcome. They are also pioneers who are solving the post-COVID-19 problem, recovering and developing the economy through efforts to research and develop new products and services; actively innovating operations, implementing digital transformation in administration and business...
On the other hand, the Vietnamese business community is also the most inspiring story of overcoming difficulties, getting rich and living responsibly, actively contributing to social security and creating positive changes for the community; at the same time, building the value system of Vietnamese enterprises through standards of culture, business ethics, responsibility to society and the community; linking and cooperating with each other to create the common strength of Vietnamese enterprises.
In the context of strong international integration today, when Vietnam participates in large commercial "playgrounds", the role of the business community is increasingly evident, demonstrating the aspiration to rise up and enhance Vietnam's position in the international arena. Proactively innovating production and business models, restructuring enterprises associated with digital transformation, innovation and creativity to find opportunities in challenges, turning around and adapting, creating new value standards to move towards participating in the global value chain. In the past, present and certainly in the future, Vietnamese businessmen have and will continue to rise up, affirming the Vietnamese spirit, culture, intelligence and mettle./.
