By the deadline for submitting entries to the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the Award's Standing Committee (Party Building Magazine) had received a total of 2,216 entries, an increase of 184 entries compared to 2022 (8.6%). These included 755 print articles, 549 online articles, 530 television programs, 280 radio programs, and 102 photojournalism entries.
Comrade Phan Thăng An, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, chaired the meeting.
The Organizing Committee of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award established a Preliminary Judging Panel consisting of a Chairman, four Vice-Chairmen, and 56 members who are dedicated, responsible, and experienced journalists in judging journalism awards. With a sense of urgency and high responsibility, from November 17, 2023 to December 6, 2023, all six subcommittees of the Preliminary Judging Panel completed the judging of the entries in the preliminary round.
After discussion, the Preliminary Judging Panel unanimously agreed to submit 120 works for the final judging round. Specifically, the Print Journalism Subcommittee 1 (editorials, commentaries, essays, etc.) selected 15 works, the Print Journalism Subcommittee 2 (reports, investigations, feature articles, etc.) selected 31 works, the Online Journalism Subcommittee selected 27 works, the Television Journalism Subcommittee selected 26 works, the Radio Journalism Subcommittee selected 13 works, and the Photography Subcommittee selected 8 works.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Phan Thăng An assessed that the preliminary judging subcommittees had worked diligently and responsibly, selecting outstanding works to be submitted for the final judging round.
The comrade noted that the Organizing Committee of the Award needs to do a better job of communicating and promoting the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award widely, and to have better forms of propaganda and guidance in the following year so that press and media agencies can closely follow the theme and select outstanding works from the grassroots to submit to the Award…
