Long An strengthens trade and investment promotion in Europe

The working trip aims to expand Long An province's international relations with partners in Europe, promote economic cooperation, attract investment in green transformation projects, and actively contribute to the shift of FDI capital into the province.

Within the framework of the trade and investment promotion trip to Europe from November 11 to 21, 2024 led by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Long An province Nguyen Van Duoc, on November 12 (local time), the Long An province delegation arrived in Paris - France.

Immediately after arriving in France, the Long An Provincial Delegation had a working session with the Chairman of Sotelanche Freysinet Group - the world's leading group in cable-stayed structure technology and other types of structures in transport infrastructure, civil and industrial construction works.

At the meeting, Mr. Manuel Peltier, Chairman of Soletanche Freyssinet Group, introduced that the Group has a history of over 80 years in the field of infrastructure construction with more than 10,000 projects each year globally. In Vietnam, Soletanche Freyssinet has been operating since 2003 and has participated in many large projects such as Keangnam Landmark Tower, Indochina Plaza Hanoi, Hai Van Tunnel, My Thuan 2 Bridge and Thu Thiem 2 Bridge. The Group's leaders expressed their desire to continue researching and seeking opportunities for cooperation in investing in transport infrastructure in Long An province.

Discussing the Group's proposal, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son highly appreciated the Group's capacity and technology, proven through projects that have created a buzz in Vietnam. Vice Chairman Huynh Van Son affirmed that transport infrastructure is a lever for the economy, Long An prioritizes allocating resources to complete major transport projects in industrial localities to accelerate investment attraction and promote the economy. In recent times, Long An province has been focusing on implementing and completing ahead of schedule key national transport projects and regional connectivity projects such as Tan An City Ring Road, Provincial Roads 823D, 830E, 827E, etc.

In particular, Provincial Road 827E is identified as the driving axis connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang. The locality is focusing on completing procedures to divide the investment into phases for the access road project and 3 bridges across the Can Giuoc, Vam Co Dong, and Vam Co Tay rivers.

For the 3-bridge project on Highway 827E, the Government has approved the project proposal using foreign preferential loans (ODA) with a total investment of about 4,797 billion VND. With its scale and high technical requirements, this project is suitable for the capacity and experience of pioneering construction technology corporations such as Sotelanche Freyssinet Group. Cooperation with experienced partners helps ensure project progress and quality, promote the application of advanced technologies, contribute to upgrading transport infrastructure, create momentum for economic development and regional connectivity. When put into operation, the projects not only ensure economic efficiency, but also contribute to the formation of iconic transport works, building a distinct image of the province.

Long An province delegation surveyed Metro Grand Paris project

After the working session at the headquarters of Soletanche Freyssinet Group, the Long An Provincial Delegation surveyed the Metro Grand Paris Express project, one of the largest transport infrastructure projects in France today. The surveyed traffic section is a package jointly implemented by Soletanche Freysinet Group. The delegation learned in detail about the scale, operation methods and advanced technologies applied to this project, and learned from experience in the management, investment and construction of transport projects in the province.

According to the working program, the Long An delegation will attend events organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with diplomatic agencies and chambers of commerce in these potential markets such as the Vietnam - France Trade and Investment Seminar in Paris, the Long An - Cologne Business Roundtable, and the Working Program with the Vietnam - Belgium Alliance.

In addition, the delegation will also meet and work bilaterally with leaders and leading corporations in France, Belgium and Germany in the fields of transportation, energy, industry, etc.

Within the framework of the working trip, members of the Long An Provincial Delegation will attend the Vietnam Capital Dialogue program in Frankfurt, a connection program to attract financial investment, investment in green transformation projects in the Vietnamese market, exchange experiences, and create opportunities for Vietnamese business organizations to access resources.

This working trip continues the activities of the 2024 Investment Promotion Program of Long An province, which is very important in expanding the international relations of Long An province with partners in Europe, promoting economic cooperation, attracting investment in green transformation projects, and actively contributing to the shift of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the province. This will also be a good opportunity for Long An province's enterprises to exchange experiences and promote bilateral economic cooperation activities with European partners.
