The benefits of bananas in cancer prevention.

Bananas are rich in antioxidants, flavonoids, and vitamin C, which can eliminate free radicals and help prevent cancer.

According to research by the Italian Institute for Biomedical Technology Development, bananas contain natural flavonoids, compounds that act as antioxidants, helping to reduce swelling, irritation, and inflammation, and prevent cancer and chronic diseases.

Research from the University of California (USA) shows that children who eat fruit, including bananas, are associated with a lower risk of leukemia. Bananas are rich in vitamin C – an antioxidant that can destroy free radicals, helping to prevent oxidative damage to DNA. Oxidative damage occurring in cells can lead to gene mutations and problems such as cancer, premature aging, and autoimmune disorders.

Scientists at Teikyo University (Japan) discovered that a fully ripe banana produces TNF, which has the ability to fight abnormal cells that cause cancer. The activity of ripe bananas is equivalent to that of lentinan, a chemical immunostimulant administered intravenously as an anti-cancer agent. Therefore, ripe bananas may act as an anti-cancer agent by stimulating the production of white blood cells.

Ripe bananas with more dark spots on the peel have a higher potential to boost immune function. Therefore, the riper the banana, the better its anti-cancer properties. Ripe yellow bananas with black spots are eight times more effective at enhancing the characteristics of white blood cells than green bananas.

According to Teikyo University, this fruit also contains several antioxidants that help eliminate free radicals. By eliminating free radicals, the antioxidants in bananas can minimize their harmful effects and fight cancer in its early stages.

Additionally, bananas provide fiber and many essential nutrients such as vitamin B6, which is crucial for many bodily processes. Unripe bananas contain resistant starch, which is digested slowly, helping to reduce appetite, support weight loss, and potentially stabilize blood sugar levels after meals. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture , eating one medium banana provides over 3g of fiber, 422mg of potassium, over 10mg of vitamin C, and 0.4mg of vitamin B6, supporting the immune system and metabolism.

This fruit can be used in a variety of ways to prepare dishes such as smoothies, sandwiches, banana bread, etc.
