In Ngoc Lam commune, a strong tornado swept through Tan Ngoc hamlet, causing the roof of Tan Ngoc primary school, which had 7 classrooms, to be completely blown off. After the tornado, only the walls remained. Many sheets of corrugated iron flew over people's houses and got stuck in acacia gardens.
Mr. Mac Van Nghi - head of Tan Ngoc village said: Tan Ngoc school has a U-shaped classroom block with completely blown-off roof. This is a new classroom block with corrugated iron roof invested by a sponsor.
Fortunately today is Saturday, students have the day off so there were no casualties.
Some houses in Tan Ngoc village were also damaged. Ms. Vi Thi Phuong Anh - a villager said: The storm and strong tornado came so suddenly that many people were caught off guard. My house's roof, cowshed, chicken coop were damaged... After the short tornado, the tiles and roofing sheets were broken in many places.
In Thanh Huong commune, a tornado swept through hamlet 6, damaging several houses, causing tiles to fall off, corrugated iron roofs to fly off, and many areas of acacia trees to collapse. Trees fell on power lines and onto the road, making travel difficult...
Villages and hamlets hit by the tornado are temporarily without power. Local people are working together to overcome the consequences.
