Special events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town being recognized as a World Cultural Heritage

With the general theme "25 years - Preserving and sustainably promoting the values ​​of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town", a series of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the recognition of Hoi An Ancient Town as a World Cultural Heritage (December 4, 1999 - December 4, 2024) are organized by Hoi An City at many times during the year. The highlight of the two days of December 3-4 is the opening of the Hoi An Local Products Museum; parade; discussion, music exchange.

Hundreds of people joined the parade to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town being recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site on the morning of December 4.

Early in the morning of December 4, dozens of bicycles, cyclos, electric cars and traditional boats mingled with the crowd to participate in the parade celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town being recognized as a World Cultural Heritage.

The parade divided into electric car groups and cyclo and bicycle groups parading on the streets of the old town.

Hundreds of representatives of leaders; agencies, departments, businesses, organizations in the city, along with representatives of all walks of life, the Chinese community from Associations, students, etc. participated in the parade.

Artists, artisans, craftsmen, ... and traditional handicrafts participate in the parade, creating a vibrant, colorful picture amidst the peaceful and relaxing old town scene.

The parade started from Hoi An Park, marched through the streets of Hoi An, and joined the ancient town to celebrate Hoi An's special event.

The rowing boat and coracle groups parade on the river, alongside the cyclo and bicycle groups parading on the streets of the old town.

Also on the morning of December 4, Hoi An City People's Committee held a meeting celebration on the theme "Imprints on the journey of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of Hoi An Ancient Town".

This is also an opportunity for agencies, units, organizations and individuals who have been participating in the management, preservation and promotion of the value of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town to meet, exchange and share memorable memories and marks over the past 25 years.

The traditional cross-country race "For Hoi An World Cultural Heritage" held on the morning of December 1 attracted hundreds of locals, foreigners living in Hoi An and tourists to participate.

Within the framework of the meeting, Hoi An city organized a photo exhibition to introduce the value of Hoi An's cultural heritage and achievements over 25 years of preservation and promotion.

In particular, on this occasion, the city published a collection of “Research information on 25 years of heritage conservation”. The publication gathers research articles highlighting the process and achievements of 25 years of preserving the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town.

The opening ceremony of Hoi An Local Products Museum was held on December 3 at house number 57 Tran Phu, Minh An ward.

The total area of ​​Hoi An Local Products Museum is about 240m2, presenting 4 main themes: Overview of Hoi An, Quang Nam local products; Hoi An - Transit point of spices and local products of Quang Nam; Introduction of some typical and endemic local products of Hoi An, Quang Nam and Hoi An, Quang Nam local products - Continuation and development.

Hoi An Local Products Museum is conveniently located connecting with other thematic museums such as the Museum of Traditional Medicine (46 Nguyen Thai Hoc), the Museum of Trade Ceramics (80 Tran Phu), the Museum of Folk Culture (33 Nguyen Thai Hoc), creating a chain of thematic museum systems in Hoi An.

Also at this opening ceremony, the Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center launched the book "Fragrances and local products of Hoi An, Quang Nam" including 38 articles by experts and researchers on two main topics: Fragrances and local products of Hoi An, Quang Nam in history; Fragrances and local products of Hoi An, Quang Nam - issues of conservation and promotion.

The topics are displayed and presented with nearly 130 images, documents, books, ancient maps; 178 artifacts of high cultural and historical value; combined with a number of models, sand tables, and specimens with diverse shapes, materials, and solutions; ... all are arranged harmoniously and vividly, deeply reflecting the content and demonstrating high aesthetic value.
