Stargazers around the world have been treated to a sight of a supermoon - a full moon that appears red or yellow at twilight. A supermoon is a full moon that appears slightly closer to Earth than usual.
The moon on the night of August 19 is just the first of four consecutive supermoons this year. Other supermoons will occur in September, October and November.
