That is the opinion given by Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee at the dialogue with young people on April 16.
Young people worry about increasing school violence
At the dialogue between Da Nang City leaders and young people, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet - Secretary of Duy Tan University Youth Union - said that recently the problem of school violence occurring inside and outside schools has caused confusion and public outrage.
This shows that school culture is showing negative signs and is increasingly declining.
Without timely measures, this situation could become more serious, affecting the mental health of young people, causing bad images of the country's educational environment and the young generation.
Ms. Tuyet believes that city leaders need to have solutions to improve school culture for local youth.
Concerns about students using social networks being negatively affected
Regarding this issue, Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that school violence in the city has decreased over the past years, but recently it has resurfaced in many localities, not only in Da Nang but also across the country.
"What I am most concerned about is the situation of students using social networks, the impact is terrible. When they go online and see what others are doing, they follow suit, which is very worrying. I suggest that the education and training sector regularly remind and pay attention to educating about this issue," said Mr. Chinh.
Mr. Chinh also said that through social networks, some young people are attracting each other to participate in activities that violate social order.
"I am very worried, social networks have a huge impact. Try to verify outside of sleep time, how many hours a day do you use social networks, during that time do you pay attention to positive activities and how much do you pay attention to negative activities?", Mr. Chinh told the youth delegates.
Therefore, Mr. Chinh asked the Youth Union officials to gather not only good youths, but also pay attention to bad youths to keep them away from traps, especially traps through social networks. Young people also need to use social networks intelligently.
Discussing the issue of school violence, Mr. Mai Tan Linh - Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education - said that the issue of school violence is not new but is currently on the rise and becoming more complicated.
Mr. Linh said that normally 6th and 10th grade students often show unusual behavior because they come from different localities and when they come to a new environment, there are often conflicts.
"We have also increased our understanding of student psychology at the beginning of the school year to have an educational direction. The education sector has also increased coordination with parents, signed a commitment to educate students at the beginning of the school year, especially at the beginning of the school year. Coordinated with local police to prevent and combat violence...", Mr. Linh said.
