According to GizChina , the first HMD smartphone has been spotted online, showing that the product is ready for launch. The design renders of this smartphone show that it will come with a prominent 108 MP camera setup. Notably, this is the second render of an HMD smartphone to appear in just a week.
Rendering images posted on the Finnish manufacturer's website
The latest information about the HMD smartphone comes from Suomimobile, a Finnish online publication, and is said to have been sourced from HMD's official website. The shared URL of the page shows a 404 error, further lending credence to the leak. The render shows a woman sitting in front of a cyan-colored smartphone with HMD branding on the back. The device sports a dual rear camera setup with cyan accents around the camera rings. Another interesting detail is the "108 MP OIS" on the rear camera module, suggesting that the 108 MP primary camera will come with optical image stabilization.
The render looks like an official promo that appears in official teasers for the smartphone. Perhaps HMD Global has gone out of its way to get the image out there ahead of the launch to entice users. Interestingly, the image appears to be similar to the render of the HMD smartphone that leaked a few days ago, suggesting that the product will have dual rear cameras and a similar camera design.
In a separate leak, reliable leaker Evan Blass shared the codenames for the first batch of HMD-branded smartphones on the X, including Pulse, Legend, Pulse+, Legend Plus, Pulse Pro, and Legend Pro. The upcoming leaked product with a 108MP camera could be one of these codenames.
Finally, reports suggest that HMD Global will target the low-end and mid-range segments with its own branded products. They will offer a stock Android experience and support more OS versions than its competitors, an approach similar to what the company has been doing with Nokia.
