Colombian President Gustavo Petro said on October 28 that Luis Diaz's mother had been rescued after being kidnapped in northern Colombia, but police were still searching for the star attacker's missing father.

The Colombian Attorney General's Office previously announced that it had assembled an investigative team to search for Diaz's parents in Barrancas, a municipality in the northern Colombian province of La Guajira. Colombian police confirmed the rescue of Diaz's mother, Cilenis Marulanda.
According to W Radio , Diaz's parents were at a gas station in their hometown of Barrancas when they were approached by two armed men. Some reports suggest that there was a shootout, although this has not been officially confirmed. Police and the military were then deployed to search for the Colombian star's parents.
Diaz is one of Liverpool's best players in recent times.
The news has come as a shock to Liverpool FC. Diaz has been one of the Anfield club's best players since joining in January 2022. Liverpool signed the Colombian winger from Porto (Portugal) and he has so far scored 14 goals in 58 appearances for the "Red Devils" of Merseyside. The 26-year-old has 43 caps for Colombia.
This season, Liverpool is currently ranked 4th in the Premier League, 6 points behind Tottenham but has played 1 match less. Coach Jurgen Klopp's team will host Nottingham Forest in round 10 at 9pm tonight (October 29).
