Information before the match Man City vs Real Madrid
After two individual moments of brilliance at the Santiago Bernabeu, Man City and Real Madrid go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tonight.
Currently, only Man City has the ability to end the 2022-23 season as domestic league champions and at the same time conquer the most prestigious European Cup.
Heading into the return leg on a 22-game unbeaten run, Man City have built an astonishing 15-game winning streak at the Etihad Stadium in all competitions – scoring at least two goals in 14 of those games.
However, records and statistics mean little to a team that has 14 top European trophies, and Real Madrid have added motivation to add another blemish to Man City's continental record this week after the La Liga title slipped through their fingers.
Los Blancos did what they had to do to delay Barcelona's title run, beating Getafe 1-0 thanks to a Marco Asensio strike, but La Blaugrana's derby win over Espanyol on Sunday night confirmed Barca's status as La Liga champions.
Real have never won at The Citizens' stadium in their previous four attempts and a date in Istanbul will be the reward for the winners of this intriguing clash of giants.
Man City vs Real Madrid squad information
Man City's medical team are currently looking after just one player, Nathan Ake, who has now sat out the last two games with a hamstring injury picked up against Leeds United earlier this month.
Guardiola claimed Ake was feeling “much better” last week, but the Dutchman has not been named in the squad for the return leg. Barring any further fitness concerns, the hosts should return to a starting XI after a series of expected changes at Goodison Park.
De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and John Stones have been well rested and are ready to return to the starting line-up, with Grealish set to resume his one-on-one battle with Real right-back Dani Carvajal.
Similarly, Real Madrid also have an injury concern heading into the return leg and it is also on the left side of defence, with Eduardo Camavinga limping off in the closing stages of the win over Getafe at the weekend.
However, Ancelotti immediately eased concerns about the serious injury of Camavinga, who was due to play on the first day at the Etihad.
David Alaba, Karim Benzema and Rodrygo have all been absent recently.
The visitors have also been bolstered defensively ahead of the second leg, with Eder Militao and Carvajal returning from Champions League and La Liga bans respectively.
With Militao back, Spanish media have reported that Rodrygo could be sacrificed in a tactical overhaul from coach Ancelotti, who could deploy Camavinga in his familiar midfield role.
Expected lineup Man City vs Real Madrid
Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Akanji; Stones, Rodri; Silva, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland.
Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Alaba; Kroos, Camavinga, Modric; Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.
