Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vien - Director of PM Coffee Company Limited - said: "From the beginning of 2024 until now, the business activities of the unit have been basically stable. In the first 3 months of the year, about 20,000 tons of coffee were exported to the markets of Algeria, Egypt, Dubai (United Arab Emirates)...
From now until the end of the year, orders are expected to increase, but in reality, the amount of goods supplied to partners is quite small because it is the end of the coffee season. Therefore, the unit is researching the field of deep processing of coffee beans to improve income, avoiding over-reliance on each raw bean alone."
For 2-9 Import-Export Company Limited (Simexco Dak Lak, under the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee), after only 2 weeks of resuming operations from mid-February 2024, the unit had 500 containers of goods exported to many foreign markets.
The company aims to export 125,000 tons of coffee in 2024. To realize this, on March 9, the company opened a fourth green coffee warehouse nationwide and the first in Hanoi. The on-site warehouse will also help reduce retail transportation costs, avoiding product quality loss during long-distance transportation.
It is known that in January 2024 alone, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 210,000 tons (up 48% in volume), with a turnover of more than 621 million USD (up 99.6% over the same period in 2023). Of which, Dak Lak accounts for 2/3 of the country's coffee export output and value.
Dak Lak province currently has 212,915 hectares of coffee. It is expected that the coffee output in the 2023-2024 crop year will reach over 570,000 tons, an increase of more than 5% compared to the previous crop year.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province, the fact that many enterprises in the province have been exporting large quantities of coffee to other countries is a very encouraging sign. The province is clearly identifying and requiring enterprises in the area to improve and focus more on deep processing of products from coffee trees instead of just focusing on the raw part as at present.
Only then will Vietnamese coffee in general and Dak Lak province in particular have a competitive position in the international market.
Mr. Tran Duc Nhat - Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee, Dak Lak Province - commented that the fact that local businesses continuously have large orders to export coffee to foreign countries shows that the reputation and brand of agricultural products of the province are increasingly improving.
In addition to the great economic benefits, creating a coffee brand in the international market will give Buon Ma Thuot City an advantage, hoping to soon become the brand "Coffee City of the World" in the near future. To achieve this goal, in addition to the city government's constant efforts, it also needs the cooperation of the local business community.
