(NLDO) – The continuous strengthening of cold air causes the North and North Central regions to be very cold, with common temperatures ranging from 12-15 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas, some places below 10 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on December 25, a cold air mass is moving south from the North. It is forecasted that from the night of December 26 to December 27, this strengthened cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions.

From the night of December 27, the cold air will be strengthened and affect the Northwest and Central Central regions. In the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, the weather will continue to be cold, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing severe cold.
The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North and North Central regions is generally 12-15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas it is below 10 degrees Celsius; in the area from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue it is generally 15-18 degrees Celsius. At sea, from December 27, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind will increase to level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas; waves will be 2-3 m high. In the North East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the Northeast wind will increase to level 7, gusting to level 9; rough seas; waves will be 4-6 m high.
The sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the central East Sea area, the western sea area of the southern East Sea area (including the western sea area of Truong Sa archipelago) has strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9; rough seas; waves 3-5 m high.
Due to the influence of the cold air strengthening, in the Central and South Central regions there will be rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Heavy rain and localized heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

At 1 p.m. on December 25, the center of the tropical depression was at about 9.7 degrees North latitude; 110.2 degrees East longitude, in the offshore waters from Ninh Thuan to Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was at level 6, gusting to level 8; moving in a West-Southwest direction at a speed of 15 km/hour.

It is forecasted that on December 26, the tropical depression will be at about 9.2 degrees North latitude; 108.8 degrees East longitude, over the sea from Binh Thuan to Bac Lieu and continue to weaken into a low pressure area.
The southwestern sea area of the Central East Sea, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ba Ria-Vung Tau (including Phu Quy island district) has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8, waves 2-4 m high; rough seas. Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and big waves.
Currently, in the area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen, there is rain, locally moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. It is forecasted that on the day and night of December 25, in the Central and South Central regions, there will be rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain.
