Lien Khuong Airport (Lam Dong province) is a 4D airport according to the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is a level 2 military airport, capable of operating large aircraft such as B747/B787/A350 and equivalent.
In May, the Ministry of Transport approved the planning of Lien Khuong port for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, with the location as an international and domestic airport, shared by civil and military use.
From now until 2030, Lien Khuong is planned to be a level 4E airport (the highest level in Vietnam at present), with a capacity to serve 5 million passengers and 20,000 tons of cargo per year. By 2050, Lien Khuong's capacity will be increased to 7 million passengers and 30,000 tons of cargo per year.
In the 2021-2030 period, Lien Khuong airport will maintain the existing runway with dimensions of 3,250 m x 45 m, with a 7.5 m wide material shoulder. By 2050, the existing runway will be extended to the West by 350 m to 3,600 m x 45 m, with the material shoulder size according to regulations.
At this stage, the airport will also maintain the T1 passenger terminal with a capacity of 2 million passengers, and plan a new T2 passenger terminal with a capacity of about 3 million passengers per year. By 2050, the T2 passenger terminal will be expanded so that the total capacity of the entire port will reach about 7 million passengers per year; reserve land for development when needed.
