On April 16, the United Nations called on the international community to contribute 2.8 billion USD this year to help the people of the war-torn Gaza Strip, as well as Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Speaking at an online press conference, Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Palestinian Territories Andrea De Domenico affirmed that this urgent appeal aims to address the humanitarian needs of about 3 million people living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip by the end of 2024, of which 90% of the budget is for Gaza.

Aid deliveries inside Gaza are still facing significant delays due to security checks, and 41 percent of UN aid requests in the past week in northern Gaza were rejected, De Domenico said.
According to Mr. De Domenico, the current humanitarian problem in Gaza is not just food, because the risk of famine is much more complicated, when water, sanitation and health are fundamental in preventing famine.
