Football Association of Malaysia President Hamidin Mohd Amin revealed that he had negotiated with coach Park Hang Seo in 2022 - when the Korean strategist had one year left on his contract with the Vietnamese team.

Coach Park Hang Seo is one of the strong candidates to take over the "hot seat" of the Malaysian team. President Hamidin Mohd Amin is confident that he can convince the Korean coach to join the team.
Mr. Hamidin Mohd Amin said: "I can share that coach Park Hang Seo almost moved to work in Malaysia.
He expressed his desire to go to Malaysia and coach naturalized players.
Mr. Park said that the Malaysian team has many talented naturalized players such as Corbin Ong and Mohamadou Sumareh. Although he helped the Vietnamese team win against Malaysia, he still wants to come here to work.
However, after interviewing candidates for the national team head coach position, the Malaysian Football Federation chose another Korean coach, Kim Pan Gon.
However, they were satisfied with this choice as the Malaysian team progressed under coach Kim Pan Gon.
Under this coach, the Malaysian team rose from 157th to 130th in the world. They have qualified for the 2023 Asian Cup and have two wins in the second qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Coach Park Hang Seo has not yet decided which team he will join after leaving the Vietnam national team. He has received many invitations from Southeast Asian teams but has not made a final decision.
