On September 11, at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh), the Vietnamese team will have an international friendly match with Palestine. This is not a strong opponent in West Asia like Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Iraq, but Palestine is not too weak and is an equal opponent to Coach Troussier's team.
The French strategist had a good start with the Vietnamese team. In the FIFA Days series last June, the Vietnamese team won 1-0 against Hong Kong (China) and Syria to maintain the 95th position in the world.
Before entering the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November, the Vietnamese team will have 3 other FIFA Days matches in October. These will be useful matches for Coach Troussier and his team, when we face strong opponents Uzbekistan, China and South Korea.
In addition to the Vietnamese team, Southeast Asian teams also have important friendly matches during the FIFA Days in September. The Thai team participates in the traditional King's Cup at home.
Coach Mano Polking and his team will face Lebanon in the semi-finals (September 7). If they win, Thailand will play the winner of the match between India and Iraq in the final. If they lose to Lebanon, the host team will face the loser of the match to play for third place (September 10).
Coach Shin Tae Yong's Indonesia team will compete with Turkmenistan (September 8) while Malaysia will have two friendly matches with Syria (September 6) and China (September 9). The two Southeast Asian representatives need to have the necessary assessment of the players' performance before the World Cup qualifiers as well as the 2024 Asian Cup.
In other friendly matches between Southeast Asian representatives, Myanmar will face Nepal twice (September 5 and September 11). The Philippines will face Chinese Taipei (September 8), Afghanistan (September 12); Singapore will face Tajikistan (September 8); and Cambodia will face Hong Kong (China) (September 7) and Macau (China) (September 11).
