Although it is no longer involved in the smartphone market, LG is said to be preparing to launch a new AI phone model with support from Samsung.
LG has tapped Samsung to develop its first AI phone, according to KED Global . The two companies have signed a partnership agreement to create a “true AI phone,” with the goal of going beyond simply integrating AI assistant services into smartphones.

Earlier this month, LG Uplus, a mobile carrier owned by LG, also launched an AI call assistant service called “ixi-O,” which can answer calls on behalf of users, summarize key points, participate in messaging, and analyze conversations to detect potential scam threats.
Since LG no longer makes smartphones, its new AI phone, expected to be called the “Galaxy ixi-O,” will be made exclusively for LG by Samsung. The phone will combine Samsung’s AI features from its “Galaxy AI” line with LG Uplus’s “ixi-O” AI capabilities.
“We expect the AI services provided by ixi-O to be revolutionary when integrated into the AI phone on Samsung's Galaxy devices,” a source also said.
However, the “Galaxy ixi-O” will only be released in the Korean market and through the LG Uplus network. Samsung can expand the development of similar AI phones through cooperation with other carriers if there is a need.
If the “Galaxy ixi-O” becomes a reality, it will be sold under the “Galaxy” brand and based on the global Samsung Galaxy phone platform with software that can be tailored to specific carrier requirements.
