Spain In the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in round 14 of La Liga, striker Robert Lewandowski was knocked down by Florian Lejeune in the penalty area but Barca was not awarded a penalty.
In a no-ball situation in the penalty area, Lejeune suddenly put his arms around Lewandowski's neck and knocked him down. The Polish striker did not dive, but immediately turned around to demand a penalty and was surprised when the referee did not see the ball.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo , the referees and assistants on the field had difficulty seeing the situation because the ball was in another area of the field. Therefore, the fault lies with the VAR team for not detecting the collision and giving Barca a clear penalty.

Lewandowski rarely complains about referees after matches, but he liked a post on social media X that posted a video of Lejeune's foul. The 35-year-old striker did not comment or link to the post on his personal page. According to Mundo Deportivo , this was Lewandowski's move to denounce the referee's decision without receiving a penalty.
At the post-match press conference, coach Xavi criticized the referees for another incident in the second half, claiming that Raphinha had been fouled in the penalty area. "I've been criticized by many people for making excuses, but the foul on Raphinha was clearly a penalty," the Spanish coach emphasized. "It happened to us in Getafe, Granada and today. We lost the victory because we didn't play well in the first half. This is not an excuse, but Barca deserved a penalty in that situation."

Mundo Deportivo points out that Barca could lose seven points in La Liga this season due to VAR errors in four matches, including the match against Vallecano last weekend.
First, the Catalan club missed a penalty when Ronald Araujo was fouled in the box in the opening match, a 0-0 draw with Getafe. Xavi heavily criticised referee Cesar Soto Grado in the post-match press conference.
In the 2-2 draw at Granada in round 9, Joao Felix scored a header in the third minute of stoppage time. On the sidelines, Xavi hugged his assistant and celebrated wildly. VAR intervened to determine that Felix was not offside, but Ferran Torres was standing behind Granada's defense and participated in the situation, so the goal was disallowed. Mundo Deportivo said this was a wrong decision because Torres did not participate in the situation.
In the 1-2 loss to Real in round 11, during a corner kick in the first half's injury time, Araujo appeared to be pulled down by Aurelien Tchouameni and was unable to jump up to head the ball. However, neither the referee nor the VAR team blew the whistle.
The draw with Vallecano left Barca in fourth place with 31 points, equal to Atletico, three points behind Girona and four points behind Real. This is also not good preparation for Xavi and his team before the next two important matches - against Porto in the fifth round of Group H of the Champions League on November 29, then Atletico Madrid in the 15th round of La Liga on December 4.
