Legendary duo Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to team up once again for an ambitious new film project called Devil in the White City.
The project has now been taken over by 20th Century Studios and is in development, with Leonardo DiCaprio likely to take on the lead role.
Scorsese and DiCaprio will co-produce the film with Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn and DiCaprio's partner at Appian Way, Jennifer Davisson.
Devil in the White City based on the best-selling book Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson, published in 2004.
The story follows Dr. HH Holmes, one of America's first serial killers, who used the 1893 Chicago World's Fair to lure and murder his victims.

With extensive experience and understanding between Scorsese and DiCaprio, Devil in the White City promises to be an excellent work, marking a new chapter in the careers of both artists.
Devil in the White City has gone through a difficult development journey for nearly 20 years.
Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions acquired the film adaptation rights in 2010, with Leonardo DiCaprio originally slated to play the role of murderer HH Holmes.
Martin Scorsese officially joined the director's role in 2015 while screenwriter Billy Ray was tasked with penning the script.
Previously, the project was Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner developed under the partnership with Paramount in 2004 but unfortunately the adaptation rights expired before the film could enter production.
The project was planned to be adapted into a series directed by Todd Field and starring Keanu Reeves in 2023. However, those plans were canceled by Hulu, leading to 20th Century Studios now picking it up and rebooting it as a feature film.
The project is currently being overseen by David Greenbaum (president of Disney Live Action), Steve Asbell (president of 20th Century Studios) and Sarah Shepard (senior vice president of production).
