On August 28, 2024, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation ( PTSC ) and its partner Sembcorp Utilities Pte. Ltd. (SCU) of Singapore held the Award Ceremony for the Wind Measurement, Hydrology and Geological Research Survey Package, Offshore Renewable Energy Export Project from Vietnam to Singapore. The ceremony was solemnly held at the Capitol Kempinski Hotel, Singapore.
The Offshore Renewable Energy Export Project from Vietnam to Singapore is one of the strategic cooperation projects between the two countries in the field of clean energy, launched in early 2023, when the two sides signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) on investment cooperation and clean electricity export to Singapore from offshore renewable energy sources in Vietnam within the framework of the official visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. This is also a pilot project of the Vietnamese Government in the field of offshore wind power, contributing to the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing energy security of the country and the region. The project is implemented with the cooperation between PTSC - a member of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, and SCU - a subsidiary of Sembcorp Group, two leading enterprises in the field of energy and technical services in Southeast Asia.
Information about the Bid Package
This is an important part of the preparation and implementation of the Offshore Renewable Energy Export Project from Vietnam to Singapore. This package aims to ensure the success of the Project by providing accurate and complete data on natural and technical conditions in the Project implementation area. The measurement and research work will include collecting data on wind speed, wind direction and wind intensity at different heights; measuring hydrological parameters such as waves, currents, sea levels; studying and surveying the seabed geology, assessing the potential for wind power exploitation and identifying advanced technologies for developing offshore wind power systems. The measurement and research process will be carried out by leading domestic and foreign experts, ensuring the highest accuracy and efficiency.
Meaning of the Bid Package
The successful implementation of this Package will provide a foundational database for the design, construction and operation of a 2.3 GW offshore wind farm in Vietnam. The Package not only plays a key role in ensuring the efficiency and safety of the Project, but also provides an opportunity for PTSC and Sembcorp to apply the most advanced technologies, contributing to the sustainable development of the wind power industry in Vietnam.
More information about the Ceremony
The award ceremony was attended by representatives of senior leaders of the Vietnamese and Singaporean governments, embassies of the two countries, PVN, PTSC, Sembcorp, etc. This was also an opportunity for the relevant parties to discuss and exchange on the technical and strategic aspects of the Project, in order to ensure success in the upcoming implementation phase. The presence of representatives of senior agencies from the Vietnamese and Singaporean governments at the award ceremony continued to affirm the strong support of both governments for this strategic project. The project not only opens up economic and technological development opportunities for both countries but also marks an important step forward in promoting international cooperation on clean energy. The successful implementation of the Project will contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change, while enhancing the position of Vietnam and Singapore on the global renewable energy map.
