The opening ceremony of the national Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 took place in Ho Chi Minh City

This year’s event carries the message: “Reading culture – Connecting the community”, “Entering the era of national growth with books”, and “Reading books, enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity”. This is a key activity in a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

The main activities took place at Cong Xa Paris Square, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, and were simultaneously organized in Thu Duc City and 21 districts in the city.

During the three days of the event, there will be 18 exchange programs and book introductions at the main stage and Ho Chi Minh City Book Street. Some of the outstanding activities include: exchanging the book series Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City Heritage and French - Indochina Architecture, traces of "Saigon - Pearl of the Far East", launching the book "Reading the history of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City in one breath", From Ben Hai River to Independence Palace, 100 years of Tan Son Nhat airport,...

In addition, the event also organized an exhibition of versions of President Ho Chi Minh's work "The Revolutionary Path", new publications and reprints on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, a thematic exhibition "Ho Chi Minh Campaign - Symbol of revolutionary heroism" and a postage stamp set "Historical Ho Chi Minh Campaign on Vietnamese and world postage stamps".

The highlight of this year’s series of activities is the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of book streets in District 7 and Binh Tan District, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the People’s Committees of the districts. This is a typical emulation project of the publishing industry of Ho Chi Minh City, celebrating the great celebration of April 30.
