A moment of silence to commemorate compatriots and soldiers killed by storm No. 3 (Storm Yagi) at the opening ceremony of Ton Duc Thang University this morning
This morning (September 20), Ton Duc Thang University held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025.
With the whole country looking towards the North which was affected and suffered extremely heavy damage caused by storm No. 3, the opening ceremony of Ton Duc Thang University took place in a special way: no congratulatory flowers, no welcoming performances and the program started with a minute of silence to commemorate the compatriots and soldiers who died in storm No. 3.
Before the opening ceremony, the school also announced that it would not accept congratulatory flowers and wished to transfer this expense to the Northern Vietnam Compatriots Support Fund of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee. The staff, lecturers and students also actively carried out contribution activities to practically support compatriots affected by natural disasters and floods.

More than 2,000 international students come to study
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University, said that in the 2023-2024 school year, the school will maintain a training scale of more than 26,000 students at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels. The school has issued graduation decisions and awarded degrees to 6 doctoral students, 87 graduate students and 6,878 undergraduate students. Of which, over 9% graduated with honors and distinctions; 61% graduated with good grades. The rate of students having jobs within 12 months of graduation is over 99%, of which the rate of jobs related to the training industry accounts for nearly 83%.
Emphasizing internationalization activities, the President of Ton Duc Thang University said that in the past academic year, the university received 2,066 international students to study full-time, short-term exchange and cultural exchange programs. At the same time, the university organized to send 1,013 students to study, intern and exchange abroad.

Regarding student sports activities, Dr. Tran Trong Dao shared: "With the motto of educating people comprehensively, in addition to good expertise to work effectively, training health, the ability to withstand high pressure, loyalty and discipline are the fundamental principles of the school. Therefore, the school has invested in sports training as the main solution for students to have a healthy body, helping them achieve better learning results."

In 2024, Ton Duc Thang University will enroll more than 6,800 students, reaching more than 99% of the target.
Sharing with students, Dr. Tran Trong Dao hopes that new students will quickly get acquainted with the university environment, integrate into the culture and student community of the school. From there, they will proactively research, study and explore knowledge; actively practice skills to become global citizens, scientists, engineers, bachelors, architects, pharmacists to serve society.
