With the consistent message "Shine for Life", the international lantern design competition - Ocean International Lantern Contest not only gathers the world's best lantern artisans but also opens up opportunities to elevate and bring lantern art into contemporary life.

Through the competition, artisans will be able to maximize the quintessence of traditional lantern art, combining the unlimited creativity of modern technology to create unique and eye-catching visual feasts for the public.

In the first time of organization, the organizers chose the theme "Oriental Light", with the hope that the program would be both a cultural bridge, increasing exchanges between countries, and contributing to arousing love of life, spreading hope, strength and light for the future.

The competition consists of 2 rounds: preliminary (from October 31 to November 14, 2024) and final (from November 15, 2024 to January 17, 2025). In the preliminary round, the teams only need to send their designs to [email protected]. The Jury will evaluate and pre-select. In the final round, the teams will construct their works right in Ocean City, under the direct evaluation and supervision of the Jury. The ceremony to honor the most impressive lantern works and the most talented artisans will take place on January 18, 2025, in the bustling atmosphere of celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Immediately following the Honoring Ceremony, the Ocean International Lantern Festival with the theme “Oriental Light” will open in Ocean City on January 18, 2025 and last until March 16, 2025. The magnificent and majestic lantern clusters crafted by artisans - the “living heritage” of traditional art will be performed on a nearly 1 km long route, creating an art destination and spring travel experience that millions of tourists cannot miss.
