The 20th Southern Fruit Festival: Journey of Happy Farming

Ho Chi Minh City The 20th Southern Fruit Festival officially opened on June 1 and will take place until August 31 at Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area (Thu Duc City).

The 20th Southern Fruit Festival is organized by Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Agricultural Park Management Board and Thu Duc City People's Committee.

This is a highlight in the series of activities of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival in 2024. The festival is a cultural and tourism event organized to introduce to visitors the unique and diverse varieties of tropical fruits. At the same time, it honors the achievements of farmers and keeps the passion alive, spreading the traditional beauty of fruit sculpture art.

Ms. Bui Thi To Trinh, Deputy General Director of Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company, said that this year's festival continues the journey to realize the goal of raising the scale to become an iconic event for Vietnam to reach further on the Asian and global tourism map.

From there, create a unique and distinct tourism product, spread the image of Vietnamese tourism closer to friends around the world and meet the entertainment needs of domestic and foreign tourists, especially during the peak summer tourist season.

With the theme “Happy Farming Journey”, the highlight of this year’s festival is a series of new activities calling for solidarity to join hands to protect and act for a green - clean - healthy environment such as: promoting the introduction of OCOP products; introducing green product collections; Green Unity Campaign contest; exhibition of high-tech agricultural models; Suoi Tien Farm green agricultural tourism model; inauguration of Friendship Garden.

At the festival, visitors can enjoy hundreds of fresh, ripe tropical fruits at surprisingly preferential prices. In addition to the collection of tropical fruit specialties such as Sa Pa peach, Hanoi plum, Dak Lak Sap avocado, Hoa Loc sand mango, Lai Thieu mangosteen, Long An watermelon, Tra Vinh longan... this year, there is a special presence of OCOP products from many localities across the country, along with new fruits successfully grown at Suoi Tien Farm that are in harvest season: American figs, Tam Hoa plums, Taiwanese Rubi guava, Siamese coconut.

The specialty fruit market not only gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese agricultural specialties but also creates opportunities for gardeners and businesses to share production and business experiences and promote their products.

Within the framework of the festival, the “Fruit Art Competition” expanded to include many topics with the aim of encouraging artisans to spread the value of green tourism, the remarkable development of Ho Chi Minh City, the trend of Vietnamese agriculture in the new era, promoting the spirit of creativity and aiming to improve the quality of life to become more civilized and modern.

Also within the framework of the 20th Southern Fruit Festival, there is also the "Ornamental Creatures Festival" which is a prominent activity, organized to convey the message of love for animals, a playground for exchanging and sharing experiences of people with the same hobby of raising ornamental reptiles. Coming here, visitors can see a diverse collection of reptiles and participate in many connecting activities to show love for animals.
