The announcement ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City international friendship symbol took place on the afternoon of September 24 at Bach Dang Wharf Park within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue (FD) in 2024.

Attending the announcement ceremony were Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang; Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan and a delegation of leaders from international localities that have friendly cooperative relations with the City.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan said that this is an extremely meaningful event, marking the close cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and localities and international partners.
"The international friendship symbol is not only a work of art, but also a living symbol of the spirit of friendship, solidarity and long-term cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and 58 localities around the world.
The idea of this symbol comes from the desire for international friends to feel closeness, respect and pride when setting foot in the city named after Uncle Ho," Mr. Vo Van Hoan emphasized.
The most prominent part of the logo is the Mobius circle - a symbol of infinity, representing continuous, sustainable and endless development. This is the door connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the world and between the world and Ho Chi Minh City.
With advanced 3D Mapping technology and water membrane, Mobius circle is both a symbol of connection and a means to display cultural and artistic images, to introduce the beauty and hospitality of the City to international friends.
The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that located at Bach Dang Wharf Park - a peaceful space in the heart of the city - this symbol is a vivid demonstration of Ho Chi Minh City's vision in elevating foreign affairs.
At the same time, send to international friends a message of welcome, openness and aspiration to reach out to the world, together building a peaceful and prosperous future.
"Ho Chi Minh City would like to express our sincere thanks to the international delegates who have always accompanied, supported and developed a close partnership with the City. This event is a clear demonstration of friendship and mutual trust, a solid foundation for us to continue to build future successes together.
As we contemplate this International Symbol of Friendship, let us together deepen the values of connection that we have been cultivating and look forward to a bright future where peace, prosperity and cooperation will last forever," Mr. Vo Van Hoan emphasized.
After the announcement ceremony, delegates attended public diplomacy activities.
This year's FD is held under the theme "Industrial Transformation: Experiences and Priorities in Development Cooperation".
FD 2024 takes place on September 23-24 to promote relations between Ho Chi Minh City and its sister cities around the world; at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, the event is an important foundation in effectively implementing the "Strategy to enhance the foreign affairs of Ho Chi Minh City to 2030, vision 2045" and the project "Promoting relations with key localities of countries that are strategic partners of Vietnam to serve the goal of rapid and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2020-2025".
