With discounts of up to 80% for more than 500 famous brands, many branded products such as clothes, perfumes, accessories... for only a few hundred thousand dong have attracted a large number of people on the second day of the September 2nd holiday.

Recorded at noon on September 1, the "Branded Goods Promotion - City Sale" event area at Union Square Shopping Center (District 1) became bustling when attracting a large number of people to buy discounted branded goods. It is known that this is one of three locations where the big program will take place from August 30 to September 8 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Holding many fashion items he had just bought at a bargain price at Union Square Shopping Center (District 1), Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung (living in District 10) could not hide his excitement when he said he had been looking forward to this event for quite a while.

"The number of products is more diverse and the discounts are more attractive than last year. For example, Nike clothes are reduced by up to 80%, just over 200,000 VND, many famous brand sports shoes are also reduced by less than 1 million VND/pair, it's really a great deal," Mr. Dung excitedly said.

Ms. Thanh Huong (an office worker in Phu Nhuan district) said she also had a plan before September 2nd so as not to miss the biggest shopping occasion of the year.

"As soon as I read about City Sale 2024, I decided to 'fast' from shopping and prepare for this occasion. Shopping and having a light party with my family is fun enough," Ms. Huong happily shared.

Her joy doubled when she found a Hadilo hair removal machine for only 2.5 million VND (original price 4 million VND), a pair of sports shoes for her son with a 50% discount, only 790,000 VND.

Ms. Ngoc Mai (living in District 10) is no exception to this trend. With excitement, she walked around the stalls and said that she had successfully "closed" three pairs of pants and three Nike shirts, five Mango shirts and skirts...

"Both pants and shirts are discounted up to 80%, each item originally cost more than 1 million, but now it's only about 200,000 VND. I bought it for my husband to wear and to give to relatives," Ms. Mai happily said.

Sales staff at the event were equally busy. A male employee of the Skechers shoe brand said that by noon the store had run out of super-cheap discounted shoes starting at VND390,000, leaving only VND290,000 sandals because customers had flocked in as soon as the store opened.

The most popular shoes, priced at 790,000 - 990,000 VND, are also enthusiastically sought after by customers.

New to mountain trekking tours, sand dunes and islands

Instead of going to big tourist destinations, many people choose tours to visit islands and islets in the Southwest, trekking mountain roads and national parks during this time.

On September 1, having just arrived from Hanoi to the Southwest region for a tour, Ms. Nguyen Bich Hien said that her family of 6 members chose to experience the river region this holiday because the children really like it. In particular, the tour to visit and experience the islets in Tien Giang, Can Tho... is quite interesting, and the price is only a few hundred thousand VND/person.

"The North doesn't have many rivers, so we really enjoy this type of experiential tourism. In addition, the cuisine of the West is also quite interesting," Ms. Hien felt.

A representative of a travel company in Can Tho said that thanks to the low and diverse tour prices during the holiday, commonly 150,000 - 800,000 VND/person depending on the tour, people can easily choose to join short-term or day tours.

The number of domestic tourists on the occasion of September 2nd holiday increased sharply compared to normal days, of which tourists from the Northern region may account for more than 60%.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of September 1, a representative of the Tien Giang Province Tourism Development Center also informed that tours to islands and islets during the holidays are quite popular.

Specifically, on August 31, the province attracted about 8,349 tourists, including 1,311 international visitors. The My Tho - Thoi Son islet area had 2,156 visitors; Cai Be - Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village - Tan Phong islet had 143 visitors; the Chau Thanh - Dong Tam snake farm area had 1,100 visitors...

September 1st is expected to have much more visitors than August 31st. The My Tho - Thoi Son islet area could reach over 3,000 visitors.

Instead of choosing tourist destinations, this year many people choose trekking, especially trekking tours of forest roads and national parks.

With a group of 5 friends, Mr. Ngo Van Hai (HCMC) signed up for a trekking tour to Cat Tien National Park (Dong Nai) during the holiday. He said that the tour had a schedule of 1 day 1 night with a price of more than 1.2 million VND, and was quite convenient.

As an active member of the Southern Mountaineering and Trekking Association, Mr. Ngo Trong Dai (HCMC) said that the group has proposed 3 trekking routes for the September 2nd holiday and has attracted quite a few "backpackers" to participate.

The three selected routes include Bu Gia Map National Park (Binh Phuoc), Chua Chan Mountain (Dong Nai), and Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh). Tour prices range from 1.5-2.2 million VND/person depending on the route.
