Comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee chaired the conference.
Attending the conference were Major General Nguyen Van Ky, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the Government Human Rights Steering Committee; Dr. Le Trung Kien, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs.


Attending the conference were leaders of the Provincial Police; 300 delegates who are members of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee; leaders and officials in charge of human rights work of departments, branches, sectors, unions, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; professional departments of the Provincial Police; police chiefs of communes and towns in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee emphasized: In recent times, the work of ensuring and fighting for human rights in Lao Cai province has been implemented synchronously and effectively; policies and strategies for economic and social development, improving people's material and spiritual lives, especially in the fields of social security, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, ensuring freedom of religion and belief and resolving people's complaints and denunciations... have been increasingly improved, ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of citizens.
Along with that, the functional forces have proactively and resolutely prevented, detected, fought and effectively stopped the plots and intentions of hostile, reactionary and opposing forces, taking advantage of democracy, human rights, religion and ethnicity issues to sabotage us; maintained security and order, effectively serving the tasks of economic and social development and foreign affairs activities of the province.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also pointed out some difficulties of the province in ensuring and promoting human rights in the province in recent times and affirmed that raising awareness, mastering legal regulations, updating current events, and equipping basic skills in human rights work are very necessary.
In order for the training conference to be most effective, the delegates participating in the training need to uphold their sense of responsibility, fully absorb the content of the topics to effectively apply them to their actual work; frankly discuss unclear issues, limitations and shortcomings in practical activities to clarify issues that need attention. The reporters should increase the sharing of practical experiences in the process of advising and organizing the implementation of human rights protection work of ministries, branches, the Central Steering Committee and other units and localities.


At the conference, delegates listened to a representative of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs present a presentation on the topic “Ensuring freedom of belief and religion and some issues in the fight against activities that exploit ethnic and religious issues to sabotage Vietnam. The Standing Committee of the Government Committee for Human Rights presented a presentation on “Human rights work in the new situation”.
