Provincial leaders received and worked with the UNICEF delegation in Vietnam

On October 18, Mr. Phan Tan Canh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting and worked with the UNICEF delegation in Vietnam led by Ms. Rana Flowers, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam during their visit and work in Ninh Thuan.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the overall development of the province has received important support and contributions from international organizations, including UNICEF. This is clearly demonstrated in the projects and programs funded by UNICEF since 2007 in the fields of health, education, child protection and improving women's health, reducing natural disaster risks and adapting to climate change with a budget of over 4.8 million USD. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes to continue receiving the attention and support of UNICEF and Ms. Rana Flowers personally as a bridge to connect UNICEF's activities with the province, as well as implementing the model of responding to climate change, net zero emissions for children in the province in the coming time.

At the meeting, Ms. Rana Flowers congratulated the results that the province has achieved in recent times, and affirmed that Ninh Thuan has always been one of the localities that has left many good impressions on UNICEF. Agreeing with the province's viewpoint and orientation in green and sustainable development in the coming time, Ms. Rana Flowers pledged to continue implementing projects and programs to directly support the province in the fields of clean water, nutrition, health and environment with specific models of solar energy for schools, rational use of water in school sanitation, projects related to the goal of zero net emissions to ensure a better, greener living environment for children; thereby changing environmental behaviors for children in Ninh Thuan; contributing to protecting children and improving the health and lives of women, reducing natural disaster risks and adapting to climate change.

At the reception, the Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee expressed his hope that UNICEF would continue to pay attention and connect cooperation between UNICEF and Ninh Thuan province, and hoped that the province would be the starting point to implement a zero net emission climate change response model for children.

Ms. Rana Flowers, UNICEF Vietnam Representative, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that the province has achieved in socio-economic development as well as child care, education and protection and issues related to environmental protection in recent times. Ms. Rana Flowers affirmed that cooperation between the province and UNICEF in the coming time is necessary and needs to be continued through specific project programs. In the immediate future, UNICEF will agree and soon have a plan to implement a zero net emission climate change response model for children in Ninh Thuan; during the implementation process, Ms. Rana Flowers hopes that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will contribute more voices and directly participate so that the model can be effective, and more and more poor people, especially women and children in remote areas and ethnic minority areas of the province, can benefit from the program.
